Clipper and the Jays

Nana recently watched the slide show of our pets. Her little Clipper dog (the one she thoroughly researched before embarking on yet another dog.) This little guy is the result of her research for Pop and herself, followed and likewise won over to the breed were Hannah and Pam.... anyway.... after watching the slideshow, she sent a fun response and a Clipper story... thought I'd share from yet another of our family gems.
Honey, I loved the slide show! You would have enjoyed the morning with your Mom and Dad!! Clipper has been coming in with bloody pecks on his little head and we have been trying to find the protective Mom blue jay. Well!!! We found the trouble. A loud, full of life baby blue jay found his way into the green house and evidently refused his Mom's urging to come home to his nest. So,, she has been bringing him food in his new home the green house!!! Clipper is determined to make friends. Not going to happen. He goes close to the door and Momma dive bombs him!!! I really thought he was smarter than this!!! He refuses to stay away. So, we have blown everything BUT THE BABY BLUE JAY out and blocked the door so Momma can get in but Clipper stays out. That baby can make enough noise to call his protector from anywhere and poor Clipper heads for the doggy door but usually not in time! It really is hilarious. Your Dad and I thought we would scare that baby out with the blower!!! NO way. I hope he gets his flying wings soon and Clipper can once again enjoy his back yard!!!
Thanks for sharing Nana.... yes, the fruit never falls far from the tree! (or maybe I should qualify that... unless you are a blue jay with your own set of hopes, dreams and plans.... I hope he gets his wings soon too Nana, so Clipper can once again be free to reign in his own back yard)

blue polka dot collar...her name is Juliejuliejulie!

They went back today because it was time to make sure she is the ONE... 2 little red collared girls were curlier and bouncier than before,
and the little runt was making our hearts reach him as well.
So we took them all (all eleven) out on the lawn for the very first time....
the newly rain soaked ground was cool, and a majority of the puppies did what puppies did...
we moved often :)

TR got to see what SJ, KG, and TS had already seen....these guys are surely cute!

Which one will come when we call?

Which one will choose me?
Which one is the best one to come home in the next month....
such a quandary.... One already had a little green collar marking him as taken. Nellie is pretty partial to the bigger lighter colored girl, and the Cfam still like both little girls.... chosen by the crew last week..... soooooo now only one would wear the blue and brown polka dot collar that SJ had pick out earlier today..... which one???

This one........ yes, it appears to be the right choice wouldn't you say?
All the babies are sweet, and all the babies will have good homes. The two chosen were both wonderful, but only one could be the ONE... and this one is got to wear the collar. She is gonna be fun to watch.

Oh yes.... Ebear will begin training very shortly.... or perhaps I should say... I will be getting trained shortly! oh my oh my.......there are a couple of really good people we know, and our Scarlett was trained by the VERY best S&R, German Shepard trainer in the business. Hopefully the lady who works with Ebear (she does yorkies and little dogs) will manage to get us in good shape like my Scarlett's wonderful trainer. I've NEVER seen a smarter dog that our white Shepard!!! Ebear and Latte have big shoes to fill.

Second shots down, and grooming next week... then the last shots at 16 weeks. YEAH... puppyhood is well underway.

Ebear and Meg get a friend: lets go to puppy school together!

Ebear will soon have a new friend to play with... neighbors down the road!
Em had been telling me about praying for a new puppy and
the searches on which she'd been led.
She told me about various breeds and various litters, and finally she told me about a special lady who she'd called and felt an immediate connection... even over a phone line.
(Isn't that like the God we serve? to connect us beyond the physical?)
She, KG, SJ and TS asked me to accompany them to the house with the litter of 11 puppies.
all our hands reached in to touch the golden bundles of soft fur and floppy ears.....
... then when I saw the momma dog sitting adoringly and calm at her master's feet....
I agreed with Em....
this could surely be the one to whom she was led...
After losing a friend who'd taken you through beginning a marriage, graduating from college, first, second and third babies... how could another take her place.
Hunny was one of a kind!
Then we heard this sweet new friend talk about her dog, the mother of this litter...
she felt the same way Em did and they felt more than words would convey.
But
some will say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
I agree... it reveals more than my words!

then it came to a choice....

4 little females

2 larger and lighter

2 almost identical and smaller, like their momma dog...

This is she!

.... it is clear when choices are made from lofty positions...

it is clear when you look with your eyes, touch with your hands,

and then know with your heart.........

This is the one!

So a little red ribbon was attached to her neck to let everyone know

She is chosen...

she has been prayed for....

she will be going home to a place that is ready and waiting for her to play, snuggle, and tussle with a family who knows how to love a dog.

Hunny will have no replacement.... just like our Chrissy, just like our Bubba, and just like our precious Rusty.... no replacements, but God allows our hearts to love again, and that we will do!

Keeper... EBear

Unless the Lord tells us otherwise... very clearly.......this one is our KEEPER! The little boy has a back white paw and will be around 4-5 lbs so he will probably never sell for a Daddy doggie.. sooooo, since the family loves the little guy, I think we'll keep him.
He loves keys.... Troy recently had his truck broken into (2nd time in 1 month) and had all the keys and much more taken. We thought one of the keys we had (hard to replace) was in the set... lo and behold, the KEEPER, was running around loose (not often the case!!!) and brought in a key! Guess which one.......yes, he found what we'd thought was lost..... maybe he is a "keeper of the keys" too!......or a finder at least!

Mother's Day for Jewely... Momo

We knew from the time this one was held that this would be her home... and YEAH!!! KG's special teacher has a new baby for Mother's day!
We prayed for the perfect home, and here it is!
These are good people who love the Lord and will love having this precious little Jewel in their treasure chest!
A local and now nationally acclaimed athlete carefully hands her mother a little bundle for this mother's day 2008

Now our little Ebear is sitting at my feet while Momma Latte is in my lap... he wants arms to hold him..... maybe KG will be here soon! Thank You Lord for Your sweet presence felt in the answered prayers even about our pet's homes! YOU ARE A GRACIOUS LORD!
Happy Mother's Day Mssss G!

Puppy shots and braids

Do we HAVE TO?????? We REALLY don't want to go back to the vet... I remember last time he cut off our tails and 2 of our toes... not to worry, only puppy shots this time!
Then you can come back home to play with mom and KG!
KG may even let you play tug of war with her braid.... Ebear's NEW favorite toy.
First set of puppy shots went great... even no trouble with worming...YUCK! but ya have to do it huh? Both babies weighed in right at 2 lbs each making them around 4-5 pounds grown... PERFECT!

Yorkshire Terrier standards (know this breed before you decide you want one because they are cute)

Again for those of you unfamiliar with this breed, the above is the AKC breed standards. You will note that there is no mention of "teacup", or other such terms. In fact, AKC suggests you beware of such terms as health problems could easily occur when you are breeding for specifics like this. That said......please peruse this wonderful breed, and know exactly what you are looking for and will be seeing as you look at our dogs or any others. We choose our Latte (a member of our family, not just a pet) for her face, and selected our male for the same reason. Blue the daddy dog weighs 3 lbs and Latte weighs 5. The last 2 puppies Latte had (2 years ago) are adults weighing 4lbs and 5 lbs. These two babies will be the same. EBear, the male will be the blue/gold color, and right now, Julie, the girl looks to be the darker blueblack/goldtan....you will notice there are 4 accepted colors of yorkies.
As you read through our blog, enjoy your journey. Our babies are adorable, and the last 2 Latte will ever have. bless you!

Pro Golf and precious people~

Well, we now put these two into places that they will be exposed beyond our little home boundaries. We know that the ones who are meant to have them will see them and know too!
Ebear loves to sit in the food bowl... he curls up and sleeps in the cozy place
(after Scarlett finishes of course!!)
or else he sleeps by the feet of a three year old who can't keep his hands off the snuggly bundle!

The babies got a new social experience yesterday as all the people at the charity tournament couldn't wait for a turn to hold them. I really hope the one Troy is talking to here gets to take one of these guys home... wouldn't even have to have an interview visit on this one... or for that matter... from any of the ones who loved on little Jewel this day!

If you look under the eaves of the awards clubhouse you'll see the tiny figure of Jewel in the arms of one of the generous patrons of the day. Wow... all the professionals are just beautiful people who love puppies just like I do! How wonderful for me to get to talk pets, pro golfer's lives, high school sweethearts who have 50 years of marriage and still in love, and just be people who share a common love! That was a cool deal for me... country grandmother that I am~

These babies are certainly getting a well rounded background in their 8 short weeks on this earth. First shots on Wednesday... 8 week b'day... probably an experience they would rather NOT have~ oh well, some things you just have to do~
