May I tell you that this morning I am a thankful lady. I have my little friend Latte and she has 2 beautiful babies, BUT the story from yesterday did not hold the promise that today brought...
We knew today was the day on the calendar for the arrival of Latte's last litter of babies. We also knew that this very week a friend who had used the same daddy dog we used had lost all her babies and almost her momma dog. Then we heard another story very similar, and all this in this week. I was anxious... and wondered WHY DID YOU EVER HAVE HER BRED AGAIN???
my answer??? It was so easy last time and Latte was such a great mom, but mostly because I know what joy these little ones brought last time, and this Spring, I wanted that joy one more time for me and for everyone else that will be involved with these babies.
so.... we were at the point of this is the day!
Latte got her nest ready and looked at me as if to say... are you ready?
yes I am sweet girl, lets get these babies here to see what God is gonna bring us.
But after several hours, my little girl just wasn't making any progress...
so, after calling my friends who are expert puppy people, and my precious family vet, Randy... and finally the emergency vet on call... I made an executive decision... 4 hours and no progress, I wanted someone besides me to see about my girl, so off to the emergency vet in town we went. Dr. Hilton examined her and lo and behold... waiting was NOT an option because there was on little guy stuck! (in my desire to have healthy puppies and a strong mommy, I think I overdid the vitamins for this little litter... or else there was just a puppy with a big head... either way, Cesarean section was the ONLY alternative!!)
Decision made, Latte was not thrilled with the guys trying to help her, but 1 hour later, we have 2 healthy puppies and one tired, but ALIVE mommy! Notice... the larger of the 2 tiny babies is our little boy... I think I'll call him CAESAR (big name for a little dog, but appropriate don't you think?) and the little girl is sleek and teensy... but oh so cute!
The vet said she might not assume her responsibilities since it was not a normal birth, but I knew he didn't know this momma. After the anesthesia wore away, she once again became the amazing momma dog she was the first time.

Yes, Latte, this is the little guy who didn't want to come into the world... what do ya think?
Funny how they don't even look like yorkies at 1 day old huh? He has a little white spot on his chest and more gold than the little girl, but he is a beautiful and perfect little boy! You'll have to excuse my commanding green nails (Thank you KG!!) , but you can see the feminine difference in our little girl. Doesn't she look like a sleek little seal? She's quieter than the boy too (at least right now) ... we'll see what difference there is over the next couple of weeks.
But for now, today, March 13th (isn't that the IDES of MARCH?... well, really the 15th for March, and the 13th on 8 of the other months).... all is well with our little yorkie family, and we are anticipating VERY much fun watching these guys grow into the beautiful puppies for which our Latte is known.
Thank You to all of you who prayed for me to have peace (with my animal stuff) and for the well being of my little doggie friend. It is a good day!

Oh Aunt Katy - they are beautiful!!! What a blessing that all those people were there to help when you needed them. I can't imagine the pulling it did on your heart though - I've learned these precious little bundles of joy are like children (well - I'm imagining so since I don't have children yet). So glad God brought such perfect little ones again. I can't wait to see them in person!!
