Ebear gets a yorkie topknot! (inspite of still sporting the puppy skunk stripe)

Yes, I was feeling a bit unattractive as folks were commenting on my "skunk stripe". Little did they know that this is a natural growing out of my all black puppy coat. I'm getting the real deal..
today I got the YORKIE TOPKNOT to prove it!
Okay, so it's a little wimpy now, but you just wait... it's growing and I'm sorta thinking it is a bit like the Egyptian royal princes used to sport... a LONG braid... mine is going to be REGAL!
Yep... that's my mom... I really don't want her to have that white thing in her hair, so I keep trying to pull it out!
Makes her a little mad I assure you!

Do our profiles look a like? My people tell me that my short nose is just what they wanted.
AWWWWW MOM.... quit checking to see if it's still there???!!! It is, and

YOU LOOK MAHVELOUS MY DEAR!!!!

Let's go play tug of war.... yes, I won't mess up your hair..... (ha ha ha)

Simplification, does it apply to my longhorns?

I've been trying to simplify my life these days, and that means getting rid of so many things I don't need or have ability to care for! But then when I think about these creatures who've come into my life... some are not just "cows"... some of these were orphans, and how my heart gets tugged. Do I really think that I will be able to sell them?

Well, maybe... but only if they go to a place that would treat them as pets.. but then again, how could Aledo be anywhere but here?

On second thought... simplification may not apply to my cows!

Aledo calved first with a girl just as curious as her momma! She loves the cats, but they won't get too close. Madame Butterfly (see the wings on her head between those lovely horns?) has a blond and white little bull this year (Cindy and the little brown and white steer are hers too... she is prolific!), and Aquila is the BIG black and white momma with the little brown and white baby. We weren't even sure she was gonna have a calf this year. The steers will have the prettiest horns, but all of them surely do add pretty color and personality to my green fields. Aledo is still my little orphan who my favorite vet rescued and brought to our side yard garden to recoup... and then.... she stayed.

I think simplification is not as "simple" as I wish it were!

Tags, and puppy class with the big dogs

Oh my goodness
Oh my goodness.... this is NOT A GOOD PLACE~~~ and here I am again!
HELP!!!! do you see what he's doing?
Oh the injustice!
Yes, you guys are smiling, but just give me back to my people... you are NOT my people, no matter how much you talk about how cute I am, and all that stuff about "he's so cute".... well, now I know, it was a ploy...
a ploy to get me comfortable with these invasions!

I'm going HOME.... (at least he's fully legal now... Ebear has his tags and is a fully licenced dog). and yes.....

let's go home little boy

and now for the next day... another adventure into the "training up" of a well behaved terrier named, Ebear!

Puppy class!

We arrive and see the fully accredited training right here before our eyes! Yes, now what do you think little boy?

I think those nice people across the ribbon table have a very curiously familiar "friend" tugging on a leash and wanting to make my acquaintance.
so, I'll just stay right here in a safe place between your feet! okay???? I'll just sit here and be very inconspicuous and nobody will ask anything of me... and believe me... I now know to be suspicious of folks who say... "oh isn't he cute"... I had enough of that trick yesterday! I'm wise to the plans!
Hey look over there... see that guy... his name is Sabre... and he's been here lots before.. he just told me to listen and do what your person says... there's TREATS to be had in this place!
Yeah... agreed Max... just sit when your people say sit, and try not to be confused by their learning the rules too... TREATS are good... (sometimes they call them "cookies".. but that's okay, we KNOW what it means!)
Listen little guy.... this is tough work, but it will be well worth your efforts... give it a try, and then you can just RELAX.. when you've done the job well!

Meet and Greet... our people need to know they can trust us not to do doggie stuff while they are doing their people stuff... weird huh? they want to meet and greet, but that means WE DON'T!
Hey Ebear... when are you gonna step up and try this too?
Well.... you just wait... I've only begun to learn the rules, and as I see it... the safest place to do that is right here between the feet of my person... I'll get up there, you just wait and see... soon I'll be doing the stuff with you big guys too! and by the way... I know a really cute Golden you will want to meet Max... her name is Jewely, and she's my neighbor.... so you better be my friend, believe me.... you're gonna like the folks I know!
and just lookie here.... I heard them tell you "down"... I can do that too! Just wait and see!!!
I will be spectacular.... but it will be on my terms.... well, maybe I'm a bit wrong there, I suppose you do see the leash to which I am attached. Guess that means.... someone else is in charge here and it's not me!

Who's that sleeping in my bed????

Okay... so she's my new "FRIEND".... but does that mean she sleeps in MY BED when she comes to visit?
Well, what's a gentleman puppy to say.... she's so tired from playing in the pool with our people that she just fell into the bed.... oh so what if it's my place.... BESIDES!!!!

Look what EE has!!!! and as long as nobody sees, I'm thinking mom and I can tag team and get some of that people food EE is so willing to share with us!
Yeah mom, you were right.... having these little people around is a pretty good deal for us. They give her treats, and then... because we're so persistent and adorable, she gives us a bit of her stash! Good deal.... and by the way....
You just stay asleep in my bed as long as you want Miss Jewely Jewely.... this people food might just be too rich for your young tummy!!!!

Ebear meets Miss Jewely Jewely

So today is the day the family has been waiting for? My Mom says I'm going to visit a new "FRIEND"... Miss Jewely Jewely as SJ calls her... Oh dear... what's a "friend" mom? Does it walk on four legs or 2 like my FAVORITE friends?
I got out of the car behind JC's cattle trailer expecting to find yet another human on whom to work my charm.... and lo and behold out comes this golden wonder dog... quick as a minute... I sized her up and decided my best bet was to return to the place from which I came... the white Acadia.
No luck... she was hot on my trail (or perhaps I should say "tail")
Hummmmm thought I'd give my guy SJ a try to see if he'd get off the hotwheels and just PICK ME UP!!!!!
Nope... seems that Miss Jewely Jewely has set up camp in MY TERRITORY!!!!!
What is the deal....???? I had this all worked out to MY advantage.... all the people think I'm the cutest... and now.... COMPETITION in the way of a big eyed, sweet faced Golden Retriever named Miss Jewely Jewely!!! What's a little guy like me to do??? and where's your mom when you need her anyway... she decided to stay home on the first play day... hummm guess she knew what was coming!
Oh KG... remember me??? I'm the one you always pick up... I'm the one who always gets to sit in your lap... I'm the one you throw the toys to... I'm the cutest.... I'm , I'm,.... I'm.... well, I guess I'm not the ONLY ONE anymore!!!!

Is this what it comes too? I'm going to have to make friends or else??? well...... guess what... well.... well.... I guess I'll just be doing that! Wanna crate mate friend Jewely? Bet we'll have lots of good plans to make together... maybe we'll even get Meg to join us, ya think????

Guess you're not so bad after all.....anyway... I AM THE ONLY GUY around here!!! ya gotta respect that? huh???? fun times ahead I'm thinking!

Ebear and the groomer!

Notice the new me????
this lovely shot is of my newly groomed ears.
LIKE IT??? Well you should, I spent a whole day with my mom's special friend Michelle

My Mom loves to roll in the grass as soon as we get home... it makes our people really upset, but you just get itchy with all that clipping that has to be done

I think I'm gonna like this though. Everybody says I'm the most the "cutest thing they ever saw!!" Not too bad for a little 2 pound wonder boy huh?

Lacey, Stacey and Pop's little deer

It should have been no surprise a few years ago when Pop came to my door with a spindly brown and white bundle in his arms. I'd heard the story many times of the little deer that my dad, as a boy, had found abandoned on the family farm. He'd carried her home across the saddle of his horse and nursed it to health with an old green coke bottle fitted with a nipple for the little orphan.
I'd heard with a chuckle how they took the fawn to town between the seats and how the baby had been my rough and tumble Dad's constant tag along companion. Then, with tears, how the local park ranger discovered the little brown secret of the freckled faced fun loving Hunter boy. He told my Dad, like one of those old tear jerker Old Yeller type movies, that he'd have to take the fawn back to the wild because it was against the law to keep a "wild" animal. My Dad, the little boy, took the baby he'd nurtured back to the woods where he'd first found her, and with tears in his eyes, he said good bye to the fawn..... knowing in his young heart that this would be the last time he'd see the deer. Sooooooo, it should have been no surprise to me this day when he brought another little orphan to our suburban home.
"you can keep her here in your courtyard Kate.... she'll take a bottle no trouble.... you've always been so good with animals".... I think he remembered the litter of 3 little day old kittens (left on Jimmy Cargile's car after youth group) that I raised with a bottle, a heating pad and a bonnet hair dryer. But he was right... I always did manage to take in orphans of one kind or another (somehow still happens around here).... so "Kate" did keep her in the courtyard till she out grew the place and started eating all my flowers... so into the backyard went Lacey the deer (she liked our shoe laces). It just so happened that the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, and both my girls had affinity for the orphans as well. Lacey was the neighborhood oddity, and there were no park rangers here.
But still we had the problem of my flowers!
When Lacey became a full grown doe, our fences in the city were not the kind to hold her, and so we prayed for a GOOD solution. Voila.... Troy found just the place.... a man with whom he did business had a herd of whitetails on his property that were PETS... he could use another doe, and Lacey was just right.... a new bloodline to strengthen his herd... his PETS!!! I saw Lacey from time to time (she had twins her first time to be a mom!) and I knew this was a good thing.
Yesterday, I got a letter from Hannah.... Pop had given her an orphan too... Stacey, an axis deer. Stacey is probably the oldest axis anyone would know. Hannah raise her from a fawn and the deer's best friends are a boxer and a black lab. The story that follows is one, not so much about Hannah as her daughter and the persistence and faith of a child. I just thought as I read it that I had to put these other two with it because... as I said.... the fruit often will fall very close to the tree, and although my Dad never saw HIS little fawn again.... we've seen evidence over and over of his love for the animals as they come and go at our own houses from his or our own hearts. Thanks Pop.... we're glad God made you just like He did!
Hannah's story
Hey everyone, I thought I would share what Aliyah taught me today. Well she and I went over to mom's and dad's to check on the animals. Aliyah was sleepy, hungry, and we are trying to ween the binkie: so you can guess her mood and mine. Well, we got over there and first found Taffy, Houston's cat, and then went to check on the outside dogs and Stacey, our 13 year old deer that lives with the two big dogs. Well, the dogs were happy and excited to see us, but I couldn't find Stacey anywhere. Aliyah kept calling for her but she was not to be found. It was in the heat of the afternoon, so I knew she was probably bedded down close to the house in the bushes, but bc the Dogs jumping on a 8 month pregnant lady didn't seem to inviting I was going to have to wait for Clay to search for her. After about 30 min of searching where I could, my negative thoughts began to swirl and I had come up with all sorts of bad things that could have happened to her. Meanwhile, Aliyah is continuing to call "Stacey, Stacey, Stacey..." I thought how am I going to explain to her that she is gone. Then Aliyah looked at me and said, "I will find Stacey!" She repeated the phrase in her 22 month old language over and over. I just kept thinking she is going to be so upset when we have to leave without finding her. Anyway, I got on the phone and called Clay and he was going to come over after work and search for her. He could hear Aliyah in the background.."Stacey, Stacey, Stacey,..." as she beat on every outside window in the house calling for her. I hung up with with Clay and was getting our stuff together to leave when Aliyah started jumping up and down "Stacey, Stacey, Stacey!!" I looked up and saw Stacey walking through the yard. Praise God for the persistence of a 2 year old!!!! It was a lesson to me of how fast we give up on things in the both the spiritual and the natural when God just wants us to press in and pursue Him even when things seem hopeless!! I thank God for these moments and pray that I can take and learn from each one of them!!!
Love you all, Hannah
